On Monday morning, Tommy Hilfiger had transformed the warehouse into a Caribbean island, bringing the beach vibes inside with a wooden dock runway and a finale strut through ankle-deep waters. It was just one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
The collection had a deliberate Jamaican flavor, seasoned with Hilfiger’s signature polished, cool-girl punch, a vibrant display of colorful patchwork pieces, rainbow crocheted swimwear and separates, effortless maxis and casual printed pajama suits, topped with the occasional bucket hat and geometric bag.
“This girl right here, she’s the one,” said Tommy Hilfiger, backstage after his spring/summer 2016 show. He was pointing at a picture of Gigi Hadid in a crochet bikini, his favourite look in a collection that took the sandy beaches of Mustique as its theme and ran with it as only Hilfiger can.
This season was equally atmospheric, thanks to another spectacular collaboration with the designer Randall Peacock.
